I don’t need a name asked:
If you think your dog is sick, then why are you wasting time asking on here? Go to the vet and don’t waste time. The minutes it takes to get the answers could choose between life and death. So why do people come here?

Because the vet is usually closed. But some people seem like kids asking. Or, there just plain dumb. Haha

Because they want to see if they can fix it themselves first. I know how you feel, it is dumb.
And a total waste of time.

Some people ask health questions that are not life or death situations. Why waste the money going to a vet when for example, your dog just has gas or something simple like that? People also ask because there are experienced dog owners and dog fanatics here answering questions for them. Some are even veterinarians or vet technicians, myself being a vet technician-I try to help.

Some have already called the vet and have been told they could bring the dog in at 9pm and it’s only 7pm. They have a few extra minutes and are worried, so rather than do nothing at all except pace they ask us idiots.
Add: I answer questions when I see one about a dog having an obvious seizure because I’ve actually seen a dog having one and can tell them what to do right now before calling the vet, even.

Look guy a lot of people have lost their jobs this year, they love their pets but just don’t know what else to do, so they come here in desperation hoping someone will tell them what they can do to help their dog.So lets TRY to be a little understanding even if we really can’t help. I too get frustrated.

I think there are a few reasons.
Sometimes it’s a common problem that will most likely right itself, like vomiting once or having a loose stool or two, or eating 2 M&M’s. It makes sense to ask for advice on those rather than run to an emergency vet, frankly. Also, often the first symptom of a disease process in a dog is something seemingly benign and non-specific, like lethargy or not finishing dinner. Could be anything in those cases, and they need to know more to have a helpful conversation with the vet.
Some people don’t realize they could phone their vet and ask the same question free of charge. They only think of the vet in terms of an office visit.
Some folks truly can’t distinguish an emergency from a non-emergency. A lot of those do run to the vet immediately once it’s explained to them.
Some got a diganosis from the vet and didn’t really understand it fully and are looking for more info regarding what it usually means.
Sometimes it’s a kid home alone for the day and they are too scared to think it through.
Very few are actually trying to dodge veterinary care and expense, although we certainly get those too. .
